7 Must-See Orlando Places

If you’re planning a trip to the Orlando area or you’re simply looking for some fun things to do besides going to theme parks, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite Orlando places to visit.

When most people think of Orlando, they think of the theme parks. But there are so many other cool Orlando places to see and different foods and drinks to indulge in around town. If you’re in the area and are interested in doing some sightseeing beyond the theme park gates, here are a few great local businesses to visit.

1). Wall Crawl

Wall Crawl on Church Street in downtown Orlando is run by husband-and-wife team Joshua and Jeanette Johnson and is high on our list of Orlando places to visit. Joshua – a photographer and entrepreneur  – and Jeanette – the founder of J’s Everyday Fashion and co-founder of ethical clothing line Eden & Ivy – traveled the world together, writing and taking pictures. After struggling with inclement weather, crowds, and poor lighting, the Johnsons decided to open Wall Crawl – a cross between a traditional photo studio and an Instagram-lover’s dream.

2). Mathers Social Gathering

A trip to Mathers Social Gathering on Magnolia Ave in Orlando is like stepping back in time. The stylish and sophisticated interior is reminiscent of Orlando places from the late 1800s. Located on the third floor of the Mathers building – a vintage furniture store from the late 1800s – Mathers Social Gathering is a speak-easy style bar that serves up boutique spirits using house-made cordials, bitters, and syrups. Relax in style with a delicious beverage and take in the ambiance.

Hanson’s Shoe Repair on East Main Street in Orlando is another speak-easy style bar. Acquired by Andrew Hanson in 1894 to house his shoe repair shop complete with Orlando’s first electric sign, it is rumored that the building may be the oldest in downtown Orlando. The bar requires a password to enter, so be sure to know it in advance. Once you gain access, hip bartenders will serve you delicious craft cocktails.
